Absences It is the student’s responsibility to acquire and complete make up work within the time permitted.
Copies of handouts given in class will be kept in front of the class room or posted online. It is the students’ responsibility to check the folder and acquire their missed assignments, or down load them from my website site. I will not track a student down for missed work or to make up tests.
All in class lecture notes via will be posted on the class website. Again, IT IS THE STUDENT’S RESPONSIBILITY to get the notes from online or a classmate in the event of your absence. Guided notes are an in class assignment, and using absence as a reason for failure to complete them is NOT acceptable. THE STUDENT WILL NEED THESE NOTES TO BE PREPARED FOR THE TEST.
STUDENTS MUST BE ABSENT AT LEAST TWO CONSECUTIVE CLASS PERIODS TO BE EXCUSED FROM A TEST. ALL MATERIALS ARE ONLINE AND THE STUDENT CAN PREPARE ADEQUATELY FROM HOME. NO EXCEPTIONS.
If you are absent from a test or quiz, or presenting a project, you will be responsible for scheduling a time with me to make it up. I do not permit test make up during instruction. There are no late penalties for making up tests and quizzes, however, if the test or quiz is not made up within 10 days, the grade will be reduced to a 50% (lowest possible test grade with an attempt) until the student makes up the test and improves the grade as reminder of the gravity of not completing the test or quiz. If the test or quiz is not made up the final day of the quarter, the grade will drop to a 0%, and neither the quiz nor the test will be eligible for make up or correction.
Students with extended absences surrounding due dates are handled on a student-per-student basis…see me and we will work out a schedule.
Homebound students are held to the same standards as any student in the course, and must provide me with a working email address. Work for the homebound student is available ONLINE and tests and quizzes will be emailed to the homebound instructor as they a distributed in class. Work and tests are expected to be completed in a timely fashion and by the end of the quarter assigned. Due to the nature of illness, late penalties will be waived, but incomplete grades will not be issued.
